Frankly
Speaking About Colorectal Cancer
When
a cancer diagnosis is made, life changes. For
people with cancer and those who love and support
them, it can be difficult to know where to turn
for help or even what questions to ask. This
kit, funded by an unrestricted educational grant
from AMGEN, provides a comprehensive guide for
people facing cancer treatment. It teaches the
"patient active" approach which supports
patients and families in taking control to develop
positive working relationships with their health
care team, and to learn effective management
of side effects to improve the quality of their
life.
Colorectal
cancer is one of the most common, but "hidden"
cancers for both men and women. While there
have been significant advances in the prevention,
early detection and treatment of colorectal
cancer, living with the disease remains a challenge
for the almost 130,000 people in the United
States who are diagnosed with it each year.
The
Wellness Community, funded by an unrestricted
educational grant by Roche Pharmaceuticals,
has launched an educational program called
"Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer"
designed to meet the needs of today's patients
and caregivers who want to play an active
role managing the disease and treatment.
As
part of this initiative, a free educational
kit, "Frankly Speaking About Colorectal
Cancer", has been developed. To order
your education kit, call , or
