TWC Golfers Play "Fore" a Good Cause!

A beautiful day, a terrific golf course and a group of energetic and competitive golfers…the perfect mix for The Wellness Community's 2001 golf tournament. The tournament, held this year at Waverly Oaks Golf Course in Plymouth, Massachusetts was the perfect blend of light banter and serious play. While no one hit a hole-in-one to drive away the prize Lexus, several golfers were heard to mutter, "Wait until next year!"

Practice putts.

Bruce Berger and Scott Seidman, Co-chairs

Co-chairs Scott Seidman and Bruce Berger ran a well organized day, while never losing sight of the fact that fun and fundraising were the purpose of the event. A crew of enthusiastic Wellness Community volunteers spent the day registering golfers, distributing snacks and cold water and supervising the raffles and contests that are an important part of the tournament.

Volunteers make the Difference!

The Wellness Community's Spring Dinner a Lively Success!

In the Spirit of Wellness combined warmth, emotion and humor for the guests and honorees of The Wellness Community. The evening, filled with surprises, began with a bagpipe procession that led humorist Jimmy Tingle into the ballroom of The Westin-Copley Place.

Stephanie Dodson, Dinner Chair, Reverend Gwendolyn Collins and Natalie Jacobson.

Jimmy opened the program. It included remarks by Cherry Muse, Executive Director of The Wellness Community and a moving video of Wellness Community participants describing the experience of participating in a Wellness Community support group. Following the video, Jimmy Tingle returned to offer his ironic and humorous insights into contemporary life.

Joyce Johnson, former Board President and Candy O'Terry

Guest host Natalie Jacobson, WCVB-TV5 News Anchor, introduced a brief video about each honoree. As each honoree accepted the In the Spirit of Wellness award, he or she spoke about why they work with cancer patients and support the work of The Wellness Community. These remarks ranged from George Cloutier's humorous advice that we should all "Give until it hurts!" to Hester Hill Schnipper's request that "everyone in this room who has ever heard those life changing words 'You have cancer' please stand with us. You are my heroes and my benediction. To you. L'chaim. To life."
