Beyond Survival:
Creating a More Fulfilling Life After Cancer
a life coaching group
Having cancer is a transformative experience for many. It can bring changes in our bodies, our emotions, our beliefs, our aspirations, and our relationships. Although each individual’s cancer experience is unique, many face fear as well as discover an enhanced appreciation for life. Fear and gratitude are great motivators. From this place, it is easier to see what really matters. Now, knowing the preciousness of life, we must pursue our true life’s passions.
Life coaching offers the tools and perspectives to help fulfill your deepest aspirations. This 8-week group helps you crystallize your true purpose and begin designing a plan for living authentically and fully! Each participant will explore his or her lessons from the cancer experience, values and life purpose, inner strengths and obstacles, and personal goals and strategies for sustaining oneself through a time of change. Come clarify the power and gifts from your cancer experience and design how you will make your life more meaningful!
This group is for those who are beyond regular medical treatments and who commit to attending this workshop consistently for eight weeks. The sessions will be led by nine-year cancer survivor and certified life coach, Tracy Fitzpatrick, MS, CAGS, CPCC.
Mondays,
October 17th through December 5th from 10:00AM to 12:00PM

The Wellness Community is fortunate to host John Fox, poet and certified poetry therapist, who will offer two workshops in October. John teaches at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, the Graduate School of Psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, and the Institute for Interpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California. He is the author of Finding What You Didn't Lose: Expressing Your Truth and Creativity Through Poem-Making and Poetic Medicine: The Healing Art of Poem-Making (Jeremy P. Tarcher/Putnam.) John offers workshops at Esalen and Omega Institutes and throughout the United States in retreat centers, hospitals, churches and schools.
Poetry, Community and the Flourishing Heart
The making of poems is a way to express your uniqueness and find common ground with others. Connection and growth are possible when we write and read poems together. The subjects of poetry: pleasure and sadness, insight and feeling, our rich sensing of the natural world and intuitive awareness of spirit - these feed the heart of community and the soul of each person.
This workshop will give you the support you need to strengthen and express your creative voice while in the company of others who share your quest. By establishing a safe environment marked by trust, empathy, non-judgment and honesty, John creates a space in which each participant can take risks and express themselves in new ways. A light dinner will be included.
Thursday, October 20th from 5:00 to 9:00PM - RSVP
Poetic Medicine: The Healing Art of Poem Making
Poem-making is a tangible, creative act to reclaim and embody your voice, feelings, truth, and the particulars of your world. This workshop invites the fresh sensibility and playfulness we knew as children. It honors your unique, adult voice that has ripened over the years. The storms you have weathered, those times when you have thrived, the way the world has moved you — these deserve a place on the page.
Drawing from a range of sources, you will experiment with poetic tools of metaphor, sound, rhythm, imagery and symbol as remedies to connect with your wholeness and live with greater heart.
We will read poems by inspiring poets and explore writing exercises that tune us to a variety of experience, including: the poetry of earth and spirit, a life of feeling and relationship, the playfulness and power of language, a sense of community, the blessing of common things. We will explore how stillness and empathic listening deepen the act of writing. Lunch will be provided.
Saturday, October 22nd from 9:00AM to 1:00PM - RSVP
