Steven Alonso : Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Steven Alonso started his career 21 years ago at Procter & Gamble in manufacturing and held different leadership positions in operations. In 1986 he entered the financial services industry as a senior consultant with LoBue and Associates. His primary assignments involved re-engineering, startups and turnarounds. His clients included Household International, Citicorp USA and Citibank Europe. Steven led the re-engineering effort at Household International, which centralized all back office operations from a distributed branch network. This resulted in over 18% annual revenue growth and the elimination of $30MM of run rate expense with a 50% reduction in brick and mortar. Steven then joined Household to run East coast operations and later to run operations for Household Mortgage, the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae mortgage bank.

In 1993 Steven was hired by Banc One Corporation to build a national consumer finance franchise from its small finance company in Marion, Indiana. Over a 6-year timeframe, Steven led the effort that transformed a company with $300MM in assets, 270 associates and $18MM in pretax earnings to a multi-business lender with $12B in assets, 4,500 associates and $300MM in pretax earnings. The vast majority of the growth was not achieved through acquisition but was organic. The combined business had compounded annual growth rate of 43% and a return on equity of over 30%.

Steven has a strong record of starting up and turning around large businesses by significantly increasing profits and returns.

Steven received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He received his Master of Business Management from Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ.
