Conference: 'When a Parent has Cancer'

Hurricane Voices Breast Cancer Foundation has joined The Wellness Community in Newton to present "When a Parent Has Cancer: Strengthening the School's Response." This free full-day conference will prepare school personnel to more effectively address the challenges faced at school when children and families are coping with parental cancer. The Conference will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Massachusetts Medical Society Building in Waltham from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The conference will offer PDPs for teachers. The following Boston-area doctors will be featured as speakers: Laura Basili, Ph.D., Harriet Berman, Ph.D., Stan Berman, Ph.D., Karen Fasciano, Psy.D., Nancy Frumer-Styron, Psy.D., and Beth Ann Lesnikoski, M.D. These speakers will cover topics such as: Medical Overview of Adult Cancer, Children's Understanding of Illness and Schools as Communities of Caring: Panel Presentation. The registration deadline was Oct. 18.
