I am determined to stay thin, young, and beautiful. I mean, that’s the point of this entire section of the blog.
But having a baby certainly changed that for me. Of course, I wouldn’t trade my beautiful baby boy even for Gigi Hadid’s body. Despite working out a few days a week and hiking another few, I have some areas where I cannot lose the fat. And, while I am at my pre-baby weight but I carry that weight different than I used to.
What is SculpSure?
So in the quest for the most perfect body, a 33-year-old mom can possibly get, I ventured out to try another new treatment. This time I wanted to target my stubborn fat and destroy it forever. Now, we have all heard of Cool Sculpting but have you heard of SculpSure? Well neither had I. The med spa that I used – Revitalize Studio – told me it was quite new to the market, receiving its FDA approval in May of 2015 according to this press release.
I will share some information from the maker of SculpSure later in this article, but in layman’s terms let me tell you what my Revitalize Studio told me. This treatment can target 4 areas at once, kill 25% of fat within that target area, and treatment time only take 25 minutes. Sounds pretty good, right? I thought so too so I gave it a try.
My SculpSure Review
About three months ago I decided to go for it and scheduled my appointment for SculpSure. I particularly struggle with stubborn fat in the saddlebag area, the back side of my legs under the booty. After discussing these areas with the technician and deciding they were treatable areas with two sessions done in the same appointment. So I stripped down to bra and panties. The machine itself it large, with 4 paddles that come off it.

The tech strapped this belt-like contraption around each leg with plastic claps for the paddles to snap in – two paddles per under booty, saddlebag area.

I was told that it may be slightly uncomfortable but a cooling sensation was built in to maintain comfort. When the SculpSure machine was turned on it began to warm up on my skin for about 5 minutes, which was totally comfortable. After that the machine began to warm up even more for a few minutes, then cool back down, this is repeated for approximately 15 minutes.
I was not in pain at all, I would say tingly, but never painful so my technician turned the machine up to the max. Max power means maximum results – so I was happy to endure more intense tingling. The last 5 minutes was the cooling phase. The first area was done.

After removing the paddles and straps from around my legs, a single belt was used to go around my waist with two paddles feature on each side of my lower back. The process was the same, but this area was just a touch more uncomfortable. But, I was still able to max out the SculpSure machine to its most intense mode. Finished with the second treatment, I got dressed and was told that I could see results in a few weeks with full results in 3 months.
I was out of the medical office in just over an hour and like the SculpSure technician told me there was no downtime. The following day the two areas were slightly tender, but I went to work as usual. If someone were to ask me “Is SculpSure painful”, my answer would be absolutely not. Although, I have heard the abdomen and inner thighs area painful compared to the areas I had treated. After the initial tenderness the first two days, I had no other post-treatment pain or discomfort.
I was given the advice to do some extra workouts over the next few weeks to flush out the dead fat cells. I was happy to be given any instruction on how to maximize results or get them sooner and, of course, I obliged.
Several weeks went on and I didn’t really notice much. Then around the six-month mark, I notice some pants fit a little better in the upper thighs and saddle bags. At 8 weeks, I weighed myself and I was 4 lbs lighter – could have been a coincidence. Now that the full 12 weeks have passed, I feel like I can take an accurate accounting of the improvements. And, it is a noticeable difference in both areas. More so, on the legs but the flanks are smaller. Check out these SculpSure before and after pictures. Now, I wouldn’t say my improvements are revolutionary, but if you are already pretty fit and your problem areas are relatively small, you may be the right candidate for SculpSure body contouring.
Some more advice
If you have a lot of fat in large areas, you would be better off with traditional liposuction – check out our article on Liposuction and Fat Transfer coming to the blog in a few weeks. From everything I have read and my talk with the technician, another treatment on both areas would make a bigger difference. Most clients apparently need to treatments to the same area to achieve desired results. I am currently weighing the cost/benefit ratio and letting my bank account recoup before I decide to do another treatment. A good time to remind the readers that I pay full price for all treatments so that I can give unbiased and accurate feedback about my experience.
How much does SculpSure Cost?
My 8 paddles of SculpSure treatment cost $3,600. I have seen that cost vary from state to state and by the provider. After my research, I think $3,600 was right around the average cost.
Let me tell you a little bit more about SculpSure treatment from the manufacture’s website.
SculpSure is the world’s first FDA-cleared laser treatment for non-invasive lipolysis of the flanks and abdomen. It’s a state-of-the-art, controlled light-based technology, ideal for patients looking to get rid of stubborn fat.
The 1060 nm wavelength’s specific affinity for adipose tissue, coupled with minimal absorption in the dermis, allows SculpSure to efficiently treat areas of troublesome fat in just 25 minutes. Over time, the body naturally eliminates the disrupted fat cells with results seen as quickly as 6 weeks. Optimal results were usually seen in as few as 12 weeks.
